Twinkle Khanna, former Bollywood actress and wife of actor Akshay Kumar, recently lashed out at the supposed offence taken after the infamous AIB Knockout roast of Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.
In a column for Times of India, Twinkle Khanna wrote about how ‘a country that won their freedom in a non-reactive manner, has now changed to a country that has decided to be offended by arbitrary things’ and asks ‘Shouldn’t we save our strength to protest against things that really matter’.
Below are the excerpts from Twinkle Khanna’s article:
“In the last few months, we have been offended by Obama’s chewing gum, Modi’s suit, Kiran Bedi for various reasons and, of course, by the infamous roast.
If I had to be offended by a live show I would rather be offended by Arnab who invites people on his show and then doesn’t let them speak. I saw an episode where he is asking the education minister a question and then screaming over her answers.
Now that’s just bad manners, at least in the AIB roast they called guests over, let them say their bit, people laughed and went home. But we still have to get outraged even though they had made it clear that the show is for adults only.”
Twinkle also shared the article on Twitter.
The mother-of-two has been receiving much praise for her column. Celebrities including Arjun Kapoor, Sonakhsi Sinha, Priyanka Chopra have welcomed Twinkle Khanna’s wit and downright straightforward attitude in highlighting issues that are of actual importance.

The usually sporting and no doubt socially conscientious Aamir Khan also recently shared his thoughts on the much-discussed topic.
The actor lashed out at his colleagues, the two Bollywood heartthrobs and filmmaker Karan Johar who are consenting adults and participated in the roast, which Aamir thought to be highly offensive and the show extremely violent.
“My opinion is that it was a violent show. Karan (Johar) and Arjun (Kapoor) are my friends and I scolded them and told them that I was not impressed with it. I am not someone who can laugh at abuses and bad language, I think I have passed that age,” said Aamir Khan.
