Sonu Sood reveals he’s ‘not on talking terms’ with Kangana Ranaut since Manikarnika: ‘It’s her foolishness, she’s not a bad person’

Kangana Ranaut and Sonu Sood’s feud has been going on for more than five years now. It all started when the latter quit the former’s film Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi, in 2019. The historical war drama, which was earlier supposed to be directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, was later helmed by Kangana herself. The verbal spat between the actors deepened when Kangana called him out for comparing food vendor spitting in customer’s food to Shabri episode in Ramayana. Meanwhile, both Kangana and Sonu are busy promoting their upcoming films Emergency and Fateh, respectively.

During the conversation, Sonu revealed that he is not on talking terms with Kangana currently, but they used to be good friends before he quit her film Manikarnika. “I left Manikarnika also because Kangana is my friend. We are not on talking terms right now, but I have been very close with her family – her mother, father and sister meet me very lovingly. I have a rule in life that if I have ever been close to someone or friends with them, more or less, if I have a problem, I will never speak against them,” he expressed.

The actor further added, “People can say whatever they want, but I will never say anything against them. I might feel upset thinking, ‘This person was a good friend and said such things’. I feel that it’s her foolishness, she is not a bad person. But sometimes, when you write or say things, you don’t actually think it through. I might have also gone through this and done things out of being naive. However, there is no regret. It’s her own thinking, I prefer not to pay heed by answering.”

When asked if Kangana has offered another film to him again, Sonu replied, “No, we have never even spoken to each other after Manikarnika. We even have a common friend Ajay, he is close to both of us. He has tried to make us meet a couple of times, but I said it’s okay, let her be happy in her space.”

For the unversed, Sonu Sood refused to work in Manikarnika after Kangana came on board as its director. She claimed that he took this step because he didn’t want to work under a woman director. However, responding to her allegations, Sonu had said, “When we had shot for major portions of Manikarnika, I asked my director that we need to start shooting again and he said that he received an email saying that he is not going to be a part of the project anymore.

“She said that she wants to direct the film and wants me to support her. I said okay but we need to get him back on the set because he has worked really hard for the film but she denied saying that she wanted to continue directing. Then I asked her to send across rushes from the film and I saw that 80% of my scenes were chopped off and the scenes that I was narrated were not there,” he added.
