Acting coach Saurabh Sachdeva doubled up as an observer when he was on the sets of Jaane Jaan and Animal, having had the opportunity to act alongside the Kapoor siblings and watch how Kareena and Ranbir never let their stardom come in the way of their performances.
Saurabh is having the busiest year as an actor, with consecutive projects like Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Haddi, Kaala, Bambai Meri Jaan, Netflix thriller Jaane Jaan and the upcoming Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial Animal.

In Jaane Jaan, directed by Sujoy Ghosh, Saurabh Sachdeva plays Kareena’s abusive ex-husband while in Animal, he plays a key role that he cannot talk much about at this stage. But what the actor does talk about, is the similarity between Kareena and Ranbir, two artistes he said who are absolutely committed to their crafts.
“They both are so open about their craft and know that so well. They are very comfortable in front of the camera. Obviously because they have been in front of the camera from a very young age, and that’s what the camera loves – comfort. When you are relaxed, when you drop your guards and just purely act.
“That’s what I have learnt from them, observed just how at ease they are with their craft. They immediately pull out a trick and do something instinctively. It is not that it is well thought out. Both Ranbir and Kareena are stars but so humble, we spoke so much, shared a lot and the atmosphere was so friendly. There was no baggage of stardom,” he added.
Kareena and Ranbir’s “ease” with camera and their dedication to give their best no matter what is a quality that is a must to shine, Saurabh says. According to Saurabh, who has trained actors like Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor, Dulquer Salmaan and Richa Chadha, most young actors have a common fear: Will we make it?
While it can be a good motivator, and he himself feels scared how can he better himself, Saurabh says it is important that one doesn’t give in to their “emotions” and only direct their energies to feel the “action”.
“When you are it, something will always move for you. You cannot say, ‘No, I am not feeling it, I am scared’, that doesn’t work. Whatever emotions are happening, you have to take an action. If you put your foot on an accelerator, the car will move forward– whether you are happy, sad, angry. The action doesn’t care what your mood is.”

After having previously starred in projects like Manmarziyaan, Sacred Games and Taish, Saurabh himself has been stepping on the accelerator with all his might, with consecutive releases across mediums this year.
The actor says it feels “powerful” to have a slate of diverse projects, which has only led to a lot of inner satisfaction.” My worry was that I should be able to pull off all these characters. I feel I have done something fresh. I am an acting coach, but if I don’t take risks then I am not growing.
“And risk has that element of fear and anxiety. My acting career is shaping up very well, where I have done wide ranging characters. It is a shock for me though that four of my projects released within a month! But I am excited with this phase,” he added.
