Kesari 2: Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday visit Jallianwala Bagh; Karan Johar thanks PM Modi for honouring C Sankaran Nair’s legacy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned the contributions of the unsung hero C Sankaran Nair during one of his rallies. Akshay Kumar will portray Nair on the big screen in Kesari 2.

Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Kesari 2 is in full promotional swing. The film is based on the life of C Sankaran Nair, a lawyer and statesman who challenged the British Raj in the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. After visiting the Golden Temple ahead of Kesari 2 release, Akshay, along with his co-stars Ananya Panday and R Madhavan, visited Jallianwala Bagh on Tuesday. They were accompanied by singers Sukhwinder Singh and B Praak.

Kesari 2 is bankrolled by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. The official Instagram page of the production house shared photos from the team’s visit to Jallianwala Bagh. In the pictures, Akshay, Ananya, and Madhavan are seen entering the historic site and later addressing an audience from a stage.

Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned the contributions of the unsung hero C Sankaran Nair during one of his rallies, recalling his contribution to the nation. Thanking the Prime Minister for highlighting Nair’s legacy, Karan Johar wrote on social media, “Thank you to our honourable PM Modi ji for shedding light on some of our unsung heroes of our Indian freedom, specifically C. Sankaran Nair whose story remains unheard, untold & unread by so many of our citizens. We are looking forward for Indians to discover another chapter of the freedom of India through the lens of our film Kesari – Chapter 2 soon.”

Akshay Kumar also shared PM Modi’s clip from the rally and wrote, “Thank you Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji for remembering the great Chettur Sankaran Nair ji and his contribution to our freedom struggle. It is so important that we as a nation, especially the younger generation values the great women and men who fought valiantly to ensure that we breathe in a free country! Our Kesari Chapter 2, is a humble effort to remind everyone that we must never take our freedom for granted!”

Kesari 2, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, will hit theatres on April 18.
