Veteran actor Farida Jalal, who shared screen space with both Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, has opened up about her experiences working with the iconic couple. She spoke about the beautiful bond they shared, which extended beyond the film sets. Farida revealed that they often went on coffee outings and enjoyed long drives together.
In an interview with Rajshri Unplugged, Farida said, “I have a very old relationship with Amitji and an older one with Jaya. We have a lot of love for each other even today. Even though we don’t meet that often, it has not affected the love we share for each other.”
Talking about spending time together with Amitabh and Jaya, the actor said, “Back then, we had a big group, and we always used to meet up. I remember when Amitabh and Jaya were in the midst of their courtship days before getting married. They would pick me up from my house in Pali Hills at night, and we’d go for a drive to have coffee at Taj.”
Farida, Amitabh and Jaya shared the screen space together in the 2001 film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Helmed by Karan Johar, the film also starred Kajol, Shah Rukh khan, Rani Mukerji, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor in pivotal roles.
Farida shared that although they don’t meet up often nowadays, their love and respect for each other is still the same. She said, “Even now Amitji sends me greetings on my birthday. I met him during Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. The 1975 film Majboor was a special role because Mr Bachchan was with me in that film. It was also special because the role was different.”
