A new edition of the India Rich List 2025, by Hurun India, has been revealed. The list saw many industrialists dominate the top five positions, with Mukesh Ambani and family securing the top spot, followed by Gautam Adani and family at the second. But when it comes to Bollywood, there were some surprising revelations.
According to the report, India’s billionaire count has now crossed 350, marking a six-fold increase since the list’s debut 13 years ago. The country added 58 new billionaires this year alone. The most interesting bit of the list has been Bollywood’s ‘Badshah’ Shah Rukh Khan officially entering the billionaire club for the first time, with a wealth of Rs 12,490 crore. However, despite being the richest Bollywood celebrity, SRK did not manage to break into the overall top 100 richest Indians. Shah Rukh Khan is as rich as Rihanna and Tyler Perry, but behind Taylor Swift ($1.6 billion).
Interestingly, someone else with a Bollywood connection did make it to the list, and it is Shah Rukh Khan’s Swades actor Gayatri Joshi’s husband, Vikas Oberoi. With a staggering wealth of Rs 42,960 crore, Vikas Oberoi not only ranked 58th on India’s top 100 rich list but also secured the 4th spot among the Top 5 Real Estate entrepreneurs in India.
Vikas is the chairman and managing director of Oberoi Realty, the company behind some of Mumbai’s most sought-after real estate projects. Their most talked-about development includes the ultra-luxurious 360 West apartments, where a single flat can cost as much as Rs 400 crore, and is home to many Bollywood celebrities and top industrialists. Vikas’ company is also credited with upscale suburban condominiums and owns marquee assets like the luxurious Westin Hotel, among others.
Meanwhile, the list also highlighted the Top 5 richest Bollywood celebrities. Of course, Shah Rukh Khan topped the list with Rs 12,490 crore, largely powered by his production house Red Chillies Entertainment and its diverse ventures. He was followed by Juhi Chawla, who, along with her family, has a net worth of Rs 7,790 crore driven by their stake in IPL team Knight Riders Sports (KKR). Juhi and SRK co-own Kolkata Knight Riders.
Hrithik Roshan stood third with Rs 2,160 crore, thanks to the success of his athleisure brand HRX. At the fourth spot was filmmaker Karan Johar, with a net worth of Rs 1,880 crore, largely from his stake in Dharma Productions. Amitabh Bachchan and family rounded off the top five with a net worth of Rs 1,630 crore, attributed to their diverse investments.
The combined wealth of these top five richest Bollywood celebrities amounted to Rs 25,950 crore. However, what stands out is that Gayatri Joshi’s husband Vikas Oberoi’s fortune — Rs 42,960 crore — is far greater than the combined wealth of the top five Bollywood stars put together.
Gayatri Joshi is a former actor and model who won the title of Femina Miss India International in 2000 and went on to represent India at Miss International 2000. She played the female lead in Shah Rukh Khan’s 2004 film Swades, which remains her only acting credit. After marrying Vikas Oberoi, she quit acting and has since become a prominent figure in Oberoi Realty, serving as a director and one of the key voices in the company. Gayatri is also known for her close friendships with Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre and Sussanne Khan, Hrithik Roshan’s ex-wife.
