Before coming to India, Coldplay’s front man Chris Martin has already given an exciting teaser to his fans. At their recent concert in Abu Dhabi, Chris read a popular Punjabi catchphrase by Diljit Dosanjh from a sign held in the audience, leaving the crowd filled with excitement.

In a video shared by singer Diljit Dosanjh’s team on their Instagram Stories on Friday, Chris Martin could be seen performing on the stage in Abu Dhabi, when his eyes catch a sign in the huge crowd of fans. He read it out and said, “Punjabi aa gaye oye,” much to the audience’s delightful surprise. Following which he instantly said, “We love you too.” In his shoutout to Diljit, the text on the Instagram Story read, “Chris Martin says PUNJABI AA GAYE OYE (heart eyes emoji)…..!!!! Chris Martin reading Coldplay fan posters and flags is so wholesome.”

The phrase “Punjabi aa gaye oye” (Punjabis have arrived) became famous after Diljit said it during his performance at Coachella in 2023. Diljit was the first Indian singer to perform on the prestigious Coachella stage. The phrase has become the singer’s slogan to take forward the Punjabi music industry globally.

Coldplay is set to return to India for their Music of the Spheres tour. They will start by performing in Mumbai on January 18, 19, and 21. After Mumbai, they will do two concerts in Ahmedabad on January 25 and 26. This tour marks their comeback to India after more than eight years. Their last performance in India was at the Global Citizen Festival in 2016 in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, Diljit Dosanjh performed in India last year, as a part of his Dil-Luminati Tour. He started the India leg of the tour in Delhi in October, then went on to perform in Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Indore, and Guwahati before ending it in his home turf Ludhiana on New Year’s Eve. Both Diljit and Coldplay’s concerts have garnered attention due to claims of black marketing of tickets after all their shows got sold out within a few minutes.
