Sidharth Malhotra‘s Yodha, which had a mediocre opening weekend at the box office, failed the crucial Monday test as it raked in less than half of what it earned on Sunday. According to early estimates shared by industry tracking website Sacnilk, Yodha’s box office collection on Monday was Rs 2.15 crore.
The film made Rs 7 crore on Sunday, and over Rs 5 crore on Saturday. The total earnings of Yodha, backed by Karan Johar, currently stand at Rs 19 crore. Yodha opened to not-so-good reviews by critics, and managed to draw only Rs 4.1 crore on its opening day, which was less that the first day nett earnings of recently released films such as Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (Rs 6.7 crore) and Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan and Jyothika’s Shaitaan (Rs 14.75 crore).
Yodha is also facing tough competition from Shaitaan, directed by Queen and Super 30 director Vikas Bahl. Shaitaan made more on its second Monday – Rs 3 crore – than Yodha did on its first. The horror film’s current domestic nett total stands at Rs 106.05 crore nett (according to Sacnilk).
Talking about footfalls, Yodha witnessed an overall 10.36 percent occupancy on day four. In Mumbai, where it had 437 shows, the occupancy was 9.75 percent. In Delhi and NCR, with 629 shows, the occupancy stood at 11.25 percent. The highest occupancy was witnessed in Chennai — 30.50 percent but for only 36 shows.
Yodha also stars Farzi fame Raashii Khanna, and it marks the directorial debut of filmmaker duo Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha.
