Actor Ayushmann Khurrana is married to his childhood sweetheart author-filmmaker Tahira Kashyap, but there was a time, much before the two tied the knot, when he called it quits with her. The actor has revealed how he started getting “attention from girls” after he won MTV Roadies, which made him end the relationship with Tahira.
In 2004, Ayushmann won the second season of the adventure reality series. The fame that it led to, the actor said, was “difficult” to deal with as he was still in his late teens.
“It is very difficult to deal with fame when you are 16, 17, and in your teens. I remember I broke up with my then-girlfriend because I was getting attention from other girls. I went through that phase when you’re just getting a taste of fame and popularity,” he said in a segment of Mashable Mehfil.
The actor said after Roadies, he became a popular face in his hometown Chandigarh, which led to more work and a lot more attention. He called off the relationship as he wanted to “live” his life, Ayushmann recalled.
“I was the most popular guy in Chandigarh at that time and I broke with Tahira saying that ‘I want to live my life’ but after 6 months I went back to her and told her ‘I can’t do this anymore, f*** boy nahi ban sakta main,” he added.
Ayushmann Khurrana eventually married Tahira Kashyap in 2008 and the couple has two children. After years of hosting TV shows, the actor made his big screen debut in 2012 with Vicky Donor. He was last seen in the hit comedy Dream Girl 2.
