The torrential monsoon rains in Mumbai have a significant impact on the city’s infrastructure and daily life every year. Flash floods often lead to severe disruptions, including the submergence of rail tracks and extensive waterlogging across various parts of the city. On July 8, heavy rains once again caused widespread waterlogging, creating challenges for commuters as they struggled to navigate through the flooded streets. Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan expressed his concern over the flash floods in Mumbai. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he shared a heartwarming photo from his album on Wednesday. The actor, who is currently enjoying the success of Kalki 2898 AD, posted a picture of himself with his wife, actor-politician Jaya Bachchan, where he is seen holding an umbrella for her as they stroll in the rain. Jaya, meanwhile, is holding a box of laddoos. “T 5074 – …. and the rain it raineth every day .. even on set at work ..,” he captioned the photo.
In a blog post, Amitabh mused about the monsoon season and shared a series of photographs. “And the rain it raineth all day long.. on the work too .. umbrellas galore among all the artists as they wade through the waters .. and most of them enjoying the deed,” he wrote, encapsulating the monsoon experience in Mumbai.

However, he also voiced concern for those negatively impacted by the seasonal rains. “It is the blessing after the hot summer months.. but apart from the awaited agriculture.. it brings devastation and floods, ruining the landscape and causing the pain that they who suffer go through .. each year the scenario keeps repeating itself.. sad .. helpless.”
Amitabh ended his post with a sincere prayer, “It is difficult to describe the ruin caused.. but we pray that all gets well and in the wellness of all .. our prayers.”
Back in 2018, Amitabh Bachchan also extended help to those affected by Kerala floods by donating Rs 51 lakh along with some personal belongings to the Kerala CM’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) through the Resul Pookutty Foundation. Additionally, he has donated six cartons of his personal clothing, including around 80 jackets, 25 trousers, 20 shirts, scarves, and 40 pairs of shoes to the Oscar-winning sound engineer’s foundation.
Amitabh and Jaya were recently spotted attending Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding. They were accompanied by son, Abhishek Bachchan, daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda, her husband Nikhil Nanda and their grand daughter, Navya Naveli Nanda. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Aaradhya arrived separately.
