Abhishek Bachchan says father Amitabh Bachchan is ‘like a friend’, relationship with mother Jaya ‘more traditional’

Abhishek Bachchan always speaks highly of his parents, especially his mother Jaya Bachchan, who he thanks for stepping back from her acting career to take care of him and his sister Shweta Bachchan. Now, in a recent interview, Abhishek shared details about the kind of relationship he shares with his father and mother.

Speaking to Times of India, Abhishek Bachchan shared that he is close to both his parents, but he shares extremely different equation with both of them. Abhishek Bachchan revealed that while his bond with his father is more like a friend, his relationship with his mother is very traditional. “I share a more traditional mother-son relationship with my mom”, said Abhishek.

Abhishek Bachchan added that people might not see much of a difference between his relations with his father and mother, but there is definitely a difference between his relationship with the two.

Previously, Abhishek spoke about his mother and revealed how she feels possessive when he is only compared to his father Amitabh Bachchan. During the promotions of I Want To Talk, Abhishek told Bollywood Hungama, “Throughout my career of 25 years, there has been such huge reference to my father and his amazing work, but very few attribute anything to my beautiful mother. I am glad Shoojit did, she will be very happy. She keeps saying, ‘you’re my son too’. I am not worthy of being spoken about in the same sentence as these great actors.”

Jaya, however, doesn’t speak about her kids publicly. However, during her appearance on the chat show of fashion designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, she had admitted that she is a “very strict” mother.

Abhishek Bachchan is often spotted with his mother at various occasions. The actor is having a working birthday today. He will be soon seen in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer King.
