What to watch on OTT: There is an interesting mix of content releasing on streaming platforms this week — from crime-and-survival drama Dabba Cartel led by Shabana Azmi, Jyotika & Gajraj Rao, to Tim Burton-directed comedy-horror Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Here’s your watch list for the weekend.
Dabba Cartel

Boasting of an impressive ensemble cast, the story of Dabba Cartel starts with a simple lunchbox service that spirals into a perilous game of crime, deception and survival. The lives of five middle-class women are altered forever as a reluctant dabba business takes an unexpected turn — thrusting them into the heart of a high-stakes drug cartel. As the plot thickens, the women and their husbands find themselves entangled in something far more sinister — the murky world of Viva Life Pharmaceuticals. Directed by Hitesh Bhatia, written by Vishnu Menon and Bhavna Kher, and produced by Excel Entertainment, Dabba Cartel is created by Shibani Akhtar, Vishnu Menon, Gaurav Kapur, and Akanksha Seda. The cast features Shabana Azmi, Gajraj Rao, Jyotika, Nimisha Sajayan, Shalini Pandey, Anjali Anand, Sai Tamhankar, Jisshu Sengupta, Lillete Dubey and Bhupendra Singh Jadawat.

The second season of Suzhal—The Vortex is set against the backdrop of the annual Ashtakaali festival held in the fictional village of Kaalipattanam in Tamil Nadu. There the brutal murder of a veteran activist lawyer and social worker, Chellappa (Lal), shocks the entire village. As Sakkarai (Kathir) is tasked with solving the unsettling crime, the ghosts of Nandini’s (Aishwarya) past continue to haunt her as she stares at an uncertain future in prison. The investigation takes both of them spiraling down a maze of deceit, secrecy, crime, conspiracy, and deaths that gets more entangled when eight young women, unconnected to each other become the primary suspects in the murder. Written and created by Pushkar and Gayatri, and directed by Bramma and Sarjun KM, the series features a highly talented ensemble cast.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life gets turned upside down when her daughter discovers a portal to the afterlife. When someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times, the mischievous demon soon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem. This is the much-talked about sequel to the Tim Burton-directed Beetlejuice (1988) and the second film of the Beetlejuice franchise. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, a Gothic dark fantasy comedy horror film directed by Burton and written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice features Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara — who reprise their roles. The new cast members include Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, Jenna Ortega, and Willem Dafoe.
Ziddi Girls

Original young adult series Ziddi Girls, produced under the banner of Pritish Nandy Communications, is a college drama about seeking one’s identity and forging life-long friendships. The series features talented newcomers, including Atiya Tara Nayak, Umang Bhadana, Zaina Ali, Deeya Damini and Anupriya Caroli along with acclaimed actors Simran, Nandita Das, Nandish Singh Sandhu, Lillete Dubey and Revathy. The eight-episode series — directed by Shonali Bose and written and directed by Vasant Nath and Neha Veena Sharma — captures the magic of being young and idealistic, as a group of Gen Z freshers enter a reputed Delhi college, hoping to navigate their dreams and the realities of adulthood. Ziddi Girls delves into their exploration of a world that is both welcoming and unforgiving.
