“The thing about Aarya is that she has gone through so much from season 1 to season 2. She has been trying to grow up, to save things. Now, she has nothing to lose. It is the most dangerous situation when a woman has nothing more to lose or save. I don’t want to give out much, but last time, people had a complaint that why is Aarya not being a don. This is that season when you have a woman who is not apologetic about the seat she sits on,” she shared.
The former Miss Universe recently featured in the role of a transgender activist in Taali, and her performance received a lot of love from fans. At the launch, a journalist noted how Sushmita did not get strong parts earlier and was reduced to only adding glamour in films.
“We must complain about this. But I have not figured it out yet to whom I should complain about this,” she shared with a loud laugh.
Sushmita added that it’s a ‘small thing’ to discuss whether the industry gave her the opportunity or not or “whether they saw that potential” in her as an actor. Talking about how she was welcomed with open arms not just by the industry but also audiences, the actor elaborated, “My biggest blessing in my life is that in 2024, it will be 30 years in this industry. At the age of 18, I was on a stage where I met so many people, and in these 30 years, whatever I have done, my people have always supported me. It is such a big thing. At a time when I took a break for eight years at the peak of my career, the industry welcomed me with so much love when I made a comeback, and it was all because of the audience. Till the time the audience wants to see me working as an actor, no one can do anything about it.”
Sushmita Sen further shared that the moment her second innings started in 2020, she felt like a newcomer again. The actor then pointed out how she has a long list of unfulfilled genres she wants to attempt.
“I have a long list of things that I want to do, like I want to do a mature love story, a kickass action film, which no one has done, and play the worst…most dangerous antagonist you have ever seen. I have a long list (of roles that I want to do). This is just the beginning. This year, I got to do two wonderful projects, and I am very grateful for that. I hope this continues and allows me to do more work like that,” the Main Hoon Na actor said.
Aarya 3 will drop on Disney Plus Hotstar on November 3.
