Vijay Deverakonda has come in support of superstars Rajinikanth and Chiranjeevi. Deverakonda, on the sidelines of promoting his upcoming film Kushi, spoke about how veteran actors are beyond success and failure. The actor said that their contributions to cinema are enormous and shouldn’t be judged by the performances of their recent films.

The actor said, “Rajinikanth sir might have four to five flops, but he will come back and do Jailer, which is Rs 500 crores… we all have to shut up and watch. Chiranjeevi sir will have six to seven flops back-to-back. But if he puts his feet down and does it… For (last) Sankranti, he did one huge film. So, if he decides and the right director meets his energy it will happen.”

Deverakonda added, “Chiru sir changed the Telugu film industry. He changed the acting that was there, the films that were there… he changed them and inspired many millions of people. So, I think, it is disrespectful to judge them based on their hits and flops now.”

Vijay Deverakonda also credited stars like Rajinikanth and Chiranjeevi for sustaining the industry for generations. “If someone like me can come and do a film here, it is because of these guys, who have sustained the audience by giving hits. They have created this ecosystem for someone young to come and work now. They are beyond hits and flops.”

Deverakonda also pointed out the recent success of Rajinikanth’s Jailer, which is turning out to be the biggest hit in Tamil cinema. He also noted Kamal Haasan’s Vikram, which earned Rs 400 crore at the box office.

The actor will next be seen in the rom-com Kushi, which also has Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead role. Directed by Shiva Nirvana, the film will hit screens on September 1.
