They Call Him OG box office day 1 early estimates: Pawan Kalyan’s much-anticipated film They Call Him OG finally hit theaters on Friday, and the buzz around it has been enormous. Industry experts had already predicted record-shattering numbers, with early estimates suggesting an opening of nearly Rs 150 crore worldwide — the highest ever for a Telugu film and a career milestone for the actor-politician.

According to trade tracker Sacnilk, OG had earned around Rs 32 crore (India net) by 9 pm on its opening day. Backed by massive hype and advance bookings, OG was screened across 3,500+ screens in India.

Directed by Sujeeth and produced by DVV Entertainment, They Call Him OG had already created headlines by raking in over Rs 70 crore in advance bookings. Reports suggest more than 6.3 lakh tickets were sold online, with Hyderabad alone contributing Rs 12.58 crore from 851 shows, enjoying nearly 88% occupancy.

However, the release wasn’t without setbacks. Multiple shows were cancelled overseas due to delays in content delivery. York Cinema in North America scrapped all scheduled screenings and refunded ticket holders, accusing the distributors of inflating sales figures. Similarly, several European shows were cancelled when the makers failed to deliver the film on time.

Adding to the chaos, a bizarre incident from Bengaluru went viral. A video showed an overexcited fan tearing down a theater screen with a sword during celebrations. The screening was halted temporarily as management intervened, leaving many viewers disappointed. According to reports, the show resumed only after discussions between fans and the theater authorities. The incident has since raised serious safety concerns, with many questioning how a weapon was allowed inside a cinema hall.

Despite the controversies, They Call Him OG has opened to mostly positive reviews. The film, also starring Priyanka Arul Mohan, Emraan Hashmi, Prakash Raj, Arjun Das, and Sriya Reddy in key roles, is expected to continue its strong run at the box office over the weekend.
