Telugu singer Kalpana Raghavendar hospitalised after suspected suicide attempt: report

Playback singer Kalpana Raghavendar has been hospitalised after a suspected suicide attempt. According to Eenadu, she was found unconscious in her Hyderabad residence, and is currently undergoing treatment. She was discovered after security staff at her housing complex became suspicious when her home remained locked for two days. The resident’s association attempted to contact her, but they didn’t receive a response. Her husband was contacted as well, but he was in Chennai and unable to reach Kalpana.

The association members contacted the police, who broke down the door of her residence and discovered her unconscious. She was rushed to a private hospital in the city. Kalpana’s husband has returned from Chennai, and according to the report, has said that she is on ventilator support. Prominent members of the singing community also paid her visits.

The daughter of singer TS Raghavendra, Kalpana has appeared on numerous singing reality shows over the years, breaking out as the winner of Star Singer in 2010. Over the course of her career, which began when she was only five years old, she has worked with legendary composers and singers such as MS Viswanathan, Ilaiyaraaja, A. Rahman, KV Mahadevan, SP Balasubrahmanyam and KS Chithra.

She has also been a judge on various music reality shows and participated in Bigg Boss Telugu Season 1, hosted by Jr NTR. Her recent songs include “Kodi Parakura Kaalam”, “Penne Neeyum” and “Thirupachi Arivaala”. Her colleagues, including singer Sunitha, visited her in the hospital but refused to interact with the press.
