Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu is gearing up for the release of the Telugu mythological drama, Shaakuntalam. The film is due to hit theatres on April 14. Ahead of the film’s release, Samantha is making sure to create enough buzz around it. Recently, she visited Mumbai to promote the movie and shared a video of herself from there on social media.
Sharing the video, Samantha wrote on Instagram, “Mumbai🤍 So excited as we near the release.. can’t wait for you all to witness this epic tale on the silver screen!🫶🤍🦢#ShaakuntalamOnApril14 #Shaakuntalam.”
In the video, Samantha Ruth Prabhu talked about her character Shakuntala in Shaakuntalam. She said, “The character Shakuntala is so modern. She is fiercely independent. She has believed she is unwaveringly truthful in her love, her devotion. Even in the hardest parts of her journey, she stays with so much grace and dignity and those were the parts that I connected to that she went through the worst adversities but held herself up with so much dignity and grace.”
Samantha added, “Given an opportunity to play a character that is so close to princess and mystical forest and animal characters, the child in me leaped with joy. Truly truly very happy, I think the audience will be proud of this film.”
Shaakuntalam, written and directed by Gunasekhar, is based on the popular play Shakuntala by Kalidasa. The film features Samantha in the titular role of Shakuntala and actor Dev Mohan as Dushyanta, the king of the Puru Dynasty.
After Shaakuntalam, Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be seen in Kushi with Vijay Deverakonda. She has also started working on filmmaker Raj & DK’s web series Citadel India.
