SS Rajamouli’s father and ace screenwriter V Vijayendra Prasad recently revealed that a sequel to the 2022 blockbuster film RRR is in the works. During an interaction on the occasion of 20 years of Rajamouli’s Simhadri, Vijayendra told Maha News that the RRR sequel would be a Hollywood project which will most likely be helmed by a Hollywood director, under the RRR director’s supervision.
Prasad also revealed that Rajamouli’s ongoing project with Mahesh Babu would be several notches higher in terms of action and scale, in comparison to RRR. The shoot of the yet-untitled ‘globetrotting action adventure’ film is scheduled to start in December.
Vijayendra Prasad further revealed that SS Rajamouli’s next project, after the Mahesh Babu film, will be Mahabharata. However, he did not divulge any details about it. Rajamouli has previously spoken about his interest in doing a film on Mahabharat.
SS Rajamouli is also starting a production house to be managed by his son SS Karthikeya, said Prasad.
RRR was one of the biggest Indian films of last year. The film received a lot of love in Hollywood and even won various international awards, including an Oscar award for Best Original Song. The film’s success in the West was seen as a big moment for Indian cinema.
