In the same conversation, the actor said that what happened in his personal life with his marriage was “unfortunate” but added that he had “immense respect for that phase of my life.” He added, “By speculating and creating rumors about it in the news reports, they are erasing that respect in the public eye. They are diminishing that respect which hurts me a lot. It was almost a year since the court has given us divorce on mutual consent. Dragging the topic just for the sake of headlines and speculating something by pulling a third person, other names and their family into this issue for no reason or no fault at all of the third party… I felt a little sad about it. I just hope that they will stop and move on with my clarification now.”

Chaitanya and Samantha got married in 2017 and the couple put out a joint statement in 2021 saying that they had mutually separated. Samantha, in an appearance on Koffee with Karan, said that the situation between the ex-couple was not amicable but things might get better in the future. “Like if you put us both in a room, you have to hide sharp objects? Yeah. As of now, yes,” she said.
