On one hand, we have The Kerela Story about the religious conversion of three women who get brainwashed into joining ISIS, and on the other, we now have the romantic number from Vijay Deverakonda-Samantha’s Khushi, which features a hijab-clad girl getting wooed by a man. The director of Khushi, Shiva Nirvana, seems to handling a delicate subject given the times we live in.
Composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab of Hridayam (Malayalam) fame, the song is about a guy smitten by the beauty of Samantha narrating how important she is to his life. He admires her beauty, calls her his queen, and says he leads his life by following the steps of his love–a typical romantic number.
The highlight of the song is the few video clips from the song. Cinematographer Murali G promises a picturesque film set in Kashmir.
The Tamil version of the song, written by Karky, refers to many Mani Ratnam films like Kaatru Veliyidai, Raavan, and OK Kanmani. He also makes a funny reference to Oo Antava song. Going by his lyrics, it looks like Aara is the name of Samantha in the film.
Khushi which was announced back in 2019 was delayed due to the pandemic and Samantha’s other commitments. Before the start of the shoot, Sam apologised to Vijay Deverakonda’s fans for delaying the project. Other than Sam and Deverakonda, the film also stars Vennela Kishore, Jayaram, Sachin Khedekar, and Murali Sharma. The film is expected to be released on September 1.
The film is important for both the lead actors as their last films didn’t work well at the box office. Samantha’s Shaakuntalam turned out to be the biggest flop for its producer Dil Raju, and Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger became a colossal failure landing its director Puri Jagannadh in trouble. Hence, fans of both actors are looking forward to Khushi, a promising rom-com.
