After a promising debut at the box office, Kushi, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, experienced a decline in its collections on its first Saturday, September 2. According to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, the movie earned Rs 9 crore on its second day, bringing its total collection to Rs 24.25 crore.
On Saturday, Kushi boasted a 53 per cent occupancy in Telugu-speaking regions and around 45 per cent in Tamil-speaking areas. The majority of the audience flocked to the night shows, accounting for 66.56 per cent of the total footfalls. Additionally, the Telugu film had a simultaneous release in Tamil and Hindi.
The film had a good opening at the box office, amassing a staggering Rs 15.25 crore on its first day. Despite facing no competition from any other Telugu film, Kushi is struggling to keep up the momentum.
Adding to its worry, Kushi is expected to face tough competition on September 7 when Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan hit the theatres. Jawan will also be released in multiple languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.
Kushi has received mixed reviews from critics. Raghu Bandi of Indianexpress.com gave the film a rating of 2.5 stars and commented, “All the actors are seasoned performers who have given their best. The film’s writing, however, fails to explore the depths that the premise could have offered. Samantha’s character deserved more development and screen time. “Kushi” may still appeal to families seeking an entertaining evening with their favorite stars.”
