Three years after the massive success of RRR, Ram Charan returns to the big screen with Game Changer, a political action film directed by S Shankar. Set to release on January 10, the movie marks Shankar’s maiden Telugu project and has been written by him. Produced by Sri Venkateswara Creations, the film has already seen impressive advance booking collections. However, given the dominance of Pushpa 2, which shattered numerous box office records, comparisons between the two Telugu films are inevitable. While the advance bookings for Game Changer are promising, only time will reveal if it can surpass Pushpa 2.
Here’s a closer look at everything from ticket prices to Day 1 box office predictions for Game Changer ahead of its much-anticipated release:
Game Changer Movie Budget and Tickets Price
On Wednesday, the Telangana government approved a hike in ticket prices for Game Changer and granted permission for additional shows. However, the state government declined requests for 1 a.m. screenings. In contrast, the Andhra Pradesh government approved benefit shows, allowing screenings as early as 1 a.m.
The Telangana government permitted six shows on the film’s opening day, which will be reduced to five shows daily until January 19. “Since the film is high budget film and has lots of expectation among the audience, they would like to exhibit a benefit show apart from regular 5 shows with enhanced ticket rates,” a Telangana government order read.
Ticket prices for the opening day were increased by Rs 150 (inclusive of GST) for multiplexes and Rs 100 (inclusive of GST) for single-screen theatres. For the next nine days, ticket prices will remain higher by Rs 100 in multiplexes and Rs 50 in single screens. The film’s production budget is estimated between Rs 400-500 crore.
Game Changer Movie Advance Booking Report
Trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan revealed that Game Changer has garnered Rs 35 crore globally through advance bookings. As per Sacnilk, the film has earned Rs 13.87 crore (excluding block seats) in India, selling approximately 48,797 tickets across languages like Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The film’s 4 am Hyderabad show is fully sold out and in North America, a significant market for Telugu cinema, the film has already raked in $1 million through advance sales.
Game Changer Movie Box Office Collection Prediction Day 1
According to reports, early estimates suggest Game Changer is likely to earn Rs 22 crore in India on its opening day. While advance bookings started on a slow note, collecting just Rs 2.5 crore initially, numbers surged closer to the release date. With Ram Charan’s soaring popularity post-RRR and the Pushpa 2 buzz beginning to settle, Game Changer can make a decent debut at the box office. For comparison, Pushpa 2 shattered records to become the biggest opener of all time, earning Rs 175 crore nett on Day 1 and Jr NTR’s recent movie Devara minted Rs 172 crores on the first day, according to makers.
Storyline, Cast, and Runtime
Game Changer sees Ram Charan in dual roles: as political leader Appanna and IAS officer Ram Nandan. Kiara also plays double role as Anjali, Appanna’s wife, and Ram Nandan’s love interest. The story hints at a tragedy that propels Ram to fulfill his father’s dream of creating a corruption-free nation. Actor SJ Suryah plays the role of the antagonist, corrupt Chief Minister Bobbili Mopidevim in the film.
The film’s cast includes an ensemble of actors, such as Prakash Raj, Nassar, Samuthirakani, Srikanth, Sunil, Jayaram, Vennela Kishore, Naveen Chandra, and Priyadarshi Pulikonda, among others. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) awarded the film a U/A certificate on January 2, and its runtime is 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Game Changer is produced by Dil Raju and Sirish under Sri Venkateswara Creations and Zee Studios, with music composed by S. Thaman. The cinematography is by Tirru, while Shameer Muhammed and Ruben managed the editing. Dialogues for the film are penned by Sai Madhav Burra, and Karthik Subbaraj contributed to the screenplay.
