Game Changer movie tickets booking is opening up amid a lot of interest among Ram Charan and Shankar fans. Even as Telugu cinema, and even Indian cinema is reeling under the impact of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule, it is time for the next set of biggies to come into the limelight. First up, we have the Sankranthi releases, namely Game Changer, Nandamuri Balakrishna-Bobby Kolli’s Daaku Maharaaj, and Venkatesh-Anil Ravipudi’s Sankrantiki Vasthunaam. With Game Changer coming first off the tracks with the film set to hit the screens on January 10, the advance booking reports have started trickling in.
According to trade website Sacnilk, the advance booking, which has only started in certain areas in the country, currently stands at Rs 76 lakh. Notably, the bookings for the original Telugu version of the film has just opened in Karnataka, especially Bengaluru. So, the numbers are expected to have an astronomical rise when the schedules for the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu open up in the coming days. Considering the double hype for the film due to the return of Ram Charan as a solo hero in six years, and Shankar’s credibility in various markets, Game Changer might kickstart the Indian box-office with a bang.
With Andhra Pradesh government giving the go-ahead for the film to have special benefit shows, and a hike in the ticket prices, Game Changer is surely in line to open big. However, there has been no official announcement from the Telangana government on this front, and things don’t look very rosy for team Game Changer considering the State’s CM Revanth Reddy recently announcing the cancellation of these benefits after the Pushpa 2 theatre stampede row.
Also, the film seems to be ticking all the right boxes in the global box-office, with the North America ticket sales registering almost $575,000 for the US premieres. Game Changer, which also stars Kiara Advani, SJ Suryah, Anjali, and Jayaram, is expected to open big in all the centres, especially because it has the right kind of cast and crew that would appeal to various kinds of audience. In many ways, this is seen as a comeback for the Shankar brand of films that found resonance in not just Tamil Nadu, but across the country.
Nevertheless, if the proper theatre scheduling is done across all Southern states, especially since there is no big-ticket film hitting the screens for Pongal, Game Changer might just become the first big success of 2025.
