The Kapil Sharma Show actor Atul Parchure opens up about battling cancer, says, ‘wrong treatment worsened the condition’

“When the doctor did it, I saw fear in his eyes. I felt there was something wrong. I was told I have a tumour, about five centimetres long in my liver and that it is cancerous. I asked him whether I would recover or not, and he said, ‘Yes, you will’,” the actor recalled.

Though the actor started undergoing treatment for the tumour, it didn’t help him. “My first procedure after being diagnosed went wrong. My pancreas got affected, and I started having issues. The wrong treatment actually worsened the condition. I couldn’t even walk. I used to fumble while talking. In such a condition, the doctor asked me to wait for one and a half months. They said if they do the surgery, I’d get jaundice for years and my liver will be watery or I wouldn’t survive. Later, I changed doctors and took proper medication and chemotherapy.”

Atul Parchure also shared that he was called by the team of The Kapil Sharma Show to play Sumona Chakravarti’s father, but he couldn’t perform due to his health condition. However, now the actor would know whether he has recovered or not in a few days.

The actor is known primarily for his comic roles. He has starred in Comedy Nights With Kapil and Comedy Circus. He was also seen in the SAB TV show Yam Hain Hum. Parchure was also a part of Rohit Shetty’s 2009 film All The Best wherein he played the role of Dhondu. His filmography also includes Khatta Meetha and Bbuddah… Hoga Terra Baap.
