Shweta Tiwari became a household name after starring in Ektaa Kapoor’s TV show Kasautii Zindagi Kay. In a recent interaction, Shweta recalled a behind-the-scenes anecdote from the show, about shooting a scene in a filthy lake with a snake. She said that she and her co-star, Cezanne Khan, shot inside the lake the entire night, without realising that they were actually immersed in ‘gross’ sewage water.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama about the incident, she said, “It was really gross. Cezanne Khan and I were shooting for a sequence in one of the early episodes, where my character falls into a river, and Cezanne’s character jumps in to save me. The story required our characters stay in the water the whole night and only come out in the morning when someone else comes to help us. We were shooting this in Film City Lake and stayed in the water all night. In the morning, we realised that kids had been sitting on the edge of the lake and pooping there. I was like, ‘Oh s***, we were in this water the whole night!’ I also saw a snake crawling there, and realised it was in the water with us at night.”
At a promotional event for Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2, Ektaa Kapoor shared how she had decided to cast Shweta Tiwari and Cezanne Khan in what became one of the most popular shows on Indian television. She said, “I had seen Shweta in a show on Doordarshan. She was not even the lead and was standing far behind in one of the scenes. But something just struck, and I asked my team to reach out to the girl. As for Cezanne, he was already doing a show for us, and I felt the two suited the part completely.”
Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2 was released in 2018 but failed to match the popularity of its predecessor. Shweta is also a prominent face on the reality television circuit, winning the fourth season of Bigg Boss and appearing on Nach Baliye, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi.
