Shatrughan Sinha recalls first meet with wife Poonam Sinha: ‘I saw her crying in a train’

The latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show saw newlyweds Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal grace the couch as guests, along with the former’s parents Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha. This is the first time that the whole Sinha family has appeared on television together. They talked about Sonakshi and Zaheer’s wedding, their personal lives, good old days, and much more. In addition, Shatrughan revealed secrets about his first meeting with wife Poonam.

Sharing the story, Shatrughan revealed that their first meeting happened on a train when he was travelling from Patna for college. He said, “I was feeling emotional because I had been scolded by my family for some silly acts.” However, on his way, his attention was drawn to Poonam, who was crying on the train. “When I saw her, I realised she was crying too. I guess her mother had scolded her about something. That’s the first memory I have of her – crying in the train,” he added, recalling those days with a smile.

The veteran actor also opened up about how they were in a relationship with each other for 14 years before finally getting married. He talked about the challenges they faced as a couple, including a prediction from a pandit who told Poonam that she would experience difficulties for 7.5 years in their married life. The rumours about Shatrughan’s past relationships also led to emotional moments for Poonam during their courtship period, but their love and understanding helped them overcome these barriers.

Along with the family’s many revelations, Sonakshi Sinha shared moments from her own wedding celebrations with Zaheer Iqbal. With their appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show, the Sinhas have finally put an end to rumours about a tiff, after the duo’s inter-caste marriage earlier this year.
