Bollywood superstar Salman Khan shows no signs of backing down in the face of threats and has already returned to the public eye by resuming filming for the ongoing season of the television reality show Bigg Boss, where he is the host. The brutal murder of his close friend, politician Baba Siddique, who was shot dead in Bandra allegedly by members of notorious criminal Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, had instilled fear for Salman’s safety across the film industry, particularly among his family, prompting them to beef up security measures around him and his residence. It is amidst all this that Salman resumed working.

On Thursday night, Salman arrived on the set of Bigg Boss Season 18, India Today reported, accompanied by a large contingent of guards. Quoting a source, the media outlet noted that he stayed in his designated chalet within the compound ahead of the scheduled shoot on Friday. The report noted that over 60 security personnel are present on set and no outsiders are permitted to enter the premises without proper Aadhar card verification. The show’s crew has also been instructed to remain on-site until the filming of the two Weekend Ka Vaar episodes is complete.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, the Mumbai traffic police received a threatening message directed at Salman Khan via WhatsApp, demanding Rs 5 crore if he wished to “stay alive and end the enmity with Bishnoi”. The message warned, “If the money is not given, Salman Khan’s condition will be worse than Baba Siddique.” Although sources within the Mumbai police’s Crime Branch informed The Indian Express that the message was a hoax, officials are actively working to identify the sender. The Navi Mumbai police, meanwhile, arrested a person from Haryana for allegedly conducting a recce along with others at Salman’s farmhouse in Panvel in February.

Baba Ziauddin Siddique, a leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and former Maharashtra legislator-turned-minister, was shot dead by three assailants in Bandra East on October 12 as he was getting into his car after visiting his son’s office. Following this incident, police confirmed the involvement of Lawrence Bishnoi, the primary suspect in the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, in Siddique’s killing. Siddique’s murder occurred just six months after members of the Bishnoi gang fired shots at Salman’s home in Mumbai.
