Munawar Faruqui’s Bigg Boss 17 win will have a bad effect, more deserving candidates were there: Vicky Jain

Standup comedian Munawar Faruqui’s Bigg Boss 17 win divided the fans of the show, with some questioning the makers for promoting his problematic approach towards his relationships by making him the winner. Recently, Vicky Jain reflected upon Munawar’s win, which he credited to his dedicated fanbase. Vicky feels though there were other ‘deserving’ contestants, but Munawar won because of his crazy fan following.

Vicky suggested that Munawar deserved to win if it was a show judging a person’s talent. “I always told him (Munawar) that I am a fan of his art form. But that show is a show about personality. If you look from the viewpoint of his art form and his popularity, then the results are not shocking, since he has a very vocal fanbase and he always knew that, maybe this is why he played the way he did. He had a choice to take his own time on the show. But if we talk about ‘deserving’ then we could have looked at others. But because it is based on voting, Munawar has a strong fan following,” Vicky told Siddharth Kannan.

During the show, Munawar was accused of cheating on his ex-girlfriend Nazila, and later, the wild card contestant Ayesha Khan claimed that he made false promises to her.

When questioned about Munawar’s win validating his problematic approach towards his romantic relationships, Vicky agreed, “It definitely has a bad effect because we feel whatever the heroes do is right and inspiring. I opposed this in the game as well. I told him also that you are a talented man but your actions show what kind of a human being you are.”

Vicky revealed that Munawar also admitted to not being a nice person as he told Vicky, “‘Haan main acha insaan nahi hun‘ (I am not a good human being).'” Vicky shared, “In our group conversation, he said, ‘I was the one who was wrong in my relationships.’ But he also apologised and felt guilty about it. So, since he was sorry and guilty, people forgave and supported him.”

Munawar also addressed the issue during the Bigg Boss press conference, where he said, “I feel very embarrassed with all this. It is something I am not proud of. I never made my break-up with Nazila public. My love life has nothing to do with the game. Nobody who comes here is a saint, we are celebrities. Things from our personal life are the crux of the show, no one here has led a whitewashed life. The mistakes I have made, I feel genuinely sorry, I even compromised on my game because I had that regret when Ayesha came in. I will handle things once I go out.”

However, while Munawar was being accused of dating two women at the same time, he was ‘scared’ about losing the love he earned over the years. But Vicky shared that he got “relaxed” after the family week as he was told that his personal life is not impacting his popularity.
