Television actors Ashlesha Savant and Sandeep Baswana, who have been in a relationship for 23 years, tied the knot recently. Both Ashlesha and Sandeep had starred in Ektaa Kapoor’s hit show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. During a recent interaction, Sandeep shared that it was their recent trip to Vrindavan that inspired them to finally get married.
Speaking to ETimes, Sandeep shared that he and Ashlesha visited Vrindavan in April and felt a deep connection with the Radha-Krishna temples. “That trip inspired us to get married after being together for 23 years. Our parents are the happiest – they’ve been waiting for this for a long time,” he said. The actor shared that since they wanted the wedding to be simple, they tied the knot in a Lord Krishna temple.
Sandeep admitted that Ashlesha and he were ‘tired’ of answering questions about not tying the knot after so many years of being together. “In my mind, Ashlesha and I were always married,” he said. The actor added that since they have been together for so long, getting married doesn’t feel different to them. He continued, “I don’t feel anything different. It was something we were going to do someday, and it finally happened. We’re happy, and overwhelmed by the love and blessings.”
The couple had shared photos from their simple wedding. It shows Sandeep wearing a white sherwani, while Ashlesha looks radiant in a pink saree. They captioned the post, “And just like that, we stepped into a new chapter as Mr & Mrs… Tradition found its way into our hearts. We are filled with gratitude for all the blessings. “I want to say #justmarried #grateful #us.” Celebrities like Mouni Roy, Disha Parmar and Kishwer M Rai congratulated them.
Smriti Irani, who played the lead role in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, also congratulated the couple and lauded them for keeping their relationship alive after so many years. She wrote, “Some love stories take the most interesting turns. They begin not with rituals, but with realism. They promise nothing except companionship. They bring nothing to the table except the honest truth that love may ebb with time, but friendship doesn’t. And from that truth begins a beautiful—albeit different—journey.”
Smriti admitted that while she too had forced the couple to get married earlier, they took their time. She wrote, “Ashlesha and Sandeep have always been that way: different, unconventional, wonderfully their own. Madly in love, deeply in sync, and constantly driving friends like me up the wall as we kept breathing down their necks to get married. Well… it seems irritating idiots like me finally got their way! Ashlesha began her acting career with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Meanwhile, Sandeep had starred in several shows but gained fame and acclaim after playing a pivotal role in the Ektaa Kapoor drama. Currently, Ashlesha is seen in the StarPlus TV show Jhanak and has been part of acclaimed shows like Anupamaa, Pavitra Rishta, Kumkum Bhagya and more. Sandeep was last seen in Apollena.
