Actor Shefali Shah recently appeared on the Shaandar Somvaar of the show Kaun Banega Crorepati 15. The actor appeared on the show to talk about girl child along with activist Hare Ram Pandey. The actor, who is mother of two sons, shared that she always dreamt of having a daughter. So much so, when she was in the labour room the second time around and doctor informed her about her son, she asked him to re-check, hoping it’s a daughter.
Shefali was in conversation with the show’s host Amitabh Bachchan when she shared this anecdote from her personal life. During the show, Shefali said, “When a baby is born it is a very happy moment. It is for me also, especially a girl. I have two sons. First time it was ok. He was my first born. Very excited. During the second delivery, when he was born, doctor said, ‘Kitna khoobsurat beta hai‘. (Such a beautiful son). I said, ‘dobara check kar lo shayad beti ho‘.”(Check again, may be its a daughter).
The actor highlighting on the love families are willing to give their girl-child, said, “There are so many people, who want a girl. Even in this day and age at some places, babies are abandoned and especially if it’s a girl.”
On the work front, Shefali is soaring high. She was recently nominated to the Emmys for her web series Delhi Crime 2. In an interview with The Indian Express, Shefali spoke about playing her character Vartika in the two seasons of the show. “Essaying the same character in a new season does not get easier. It’s a new beginning. Every new situation gets a different reaction from us. That goes for (my character) Vartika Chaturvedi too. In the first season, she almost became a ‘hero’. In the second season, she is more human.”
Besides Shefali, Jim Sarbh has also got a nomination in the prestigious international awards in the category of Best Performance by an Actor for his portrayal of Homi Jehangir Bhabha in the SonyLIV series Rocket Boys, and Vir Das in comedy category for the Netflix show, Vir Das: Landing.
