Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Gurucharan Singh has been missing for a week now. With many more rumors floating around since the actor went missing, Indianexpress.com spoke to his on-screen son Samay Shah who played Junior Sodhi on Taarak Mehta. Samay shared that Gurucharan motivated him in a conversation lasting more than an hour when they spoke a few months back. He also said the actor was working on his Punjabi film.

Revisiting their last conversation, Samay shared, “I spoke with him 4 to 5 months back over the phone. The conversation went on for an hour or more and he kept motivating me, we spoke about running with dreams. I was missing him a lot, especially as we were not working together anymore and we were reminiscing.”

Samay also shared his opinion on reports about Gurucharan Singh suffering from depression, “He was happy when we spoke. I still cannot believe that people are saying he was depressed. He is not that kind of a person, but then you cannot predict how human consciousness works sometimes. Whenever we spoke, he was very kind and sweet, he was keeping alright, and he would continuously check on me. I don’t think he was in depression. However, we never had the kind of conversations he would have with his parents or friends. I was like a son to him.”

Samay Shah also shared details on what Gurucharan was doing on the professional front. “He had a lot of things planned, both in life and career. Whenever we spoke, I would keep asking him about what was going on in his life. He was working on a Punjabi film, but I don’t have a clear picture because he is someone who likes to give surprises. I was both excited and curious to know what he is up to. I am not sure, but the movie was called GCS. I think he was also working on an app. I think he will be back very soon,” he said.

Unfortunately, Samay has no contact details of Gurucharan’s family so he has not been able to get in touch with any of them. Recalling his fondest memory with Gurucharan, Samay shared, “When I was very small, he would give me ‘khatti meethi’, which were kisses on both my cheeks. He would play a lot with me, and when he is around children he also becomes a kid.” He said the last time they saw each other was at Dilip Joshi’s son’s reception. Samay added, “After that, we didn’t meet, but now I would want to meet him soon.”

Samay soon completes his MA in English Literature and wants to focus on writing in the future. Samay also has a message for Gurucharan, “I just want him to know that please call me, whatever it is, please call me. He will understand this and be able to decrypt my comment.”
