In this week’s episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), Amitabh Bachchan, often known for his warmth and personal anecdotes, was seen consoling contestant Ashutosh Singh, a software developer from Vadodara, Gujarat. Ashutosh opened up about a deeply emotional aspect of his life, revealing that his parents stopped speaking to him and severed ties after he married against their wishes.

Ashutosh shared his heartbreak on the show, saying, “I’ve not been talking to my parents for five years. I know they watch KBC regularly, so it was important for me to come here so I can talk to you about this and maybe they can listen to us.” Showing compassion and empathy, Amitabh said, “I hope that after watching today’s episode, your parents will talk to you again, and you can have the conversation you’ve been longing for.”

To comfort Ashutosh, Amitabh shared his own family’s example of intercultural marriages. He spoke about how his family members have married individuals from diverse cultural and regional backgrounds. Reflecting on his own marriage, Big B shared how he, being from Uttar Pradesh, married Jaya Bachchan, who hails from Bengal. The megastar also spoke about his children, highlighting how his daughter, Shweta Bachchan, married into a Punjabi family, and his son, Abhishek Bachchan, married Aishwarya Rai, who comes from Mangalore.

He said, “Hum hai Uttar Pradesh ke, par chale gaye Bengal. Hamare bhai saab jo hai woh Sindhi parivaar main pahunch gaye, hamari beti Punjabi parivaar mein aur bitwa, aap toh jaante hai… Mangalore. (I am from Uttar Pradesh but went to Bengal, my brother is married into a Sindhi family, my daughter is married into a Punjabi family and my son, you already know, Mangalore.”

Amitabh Bachchan recalled his late father Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s words and added, “Babuji bola kartein the pehle, ‘Desh ke har kone kone se byaah kar ke laaye hai sabko‘ (My father used to say that everybody has married from different corners of the whole country).”

Recently, Amitabh shared a strongly-worded blog post, calling out those who spread fake news. His statement coincided with rumours about Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Ri Bachchan’s alleged separation. However, the couple was recently spotted together at a wedding reception in Mumbai, effectively quashing all such speculations.
