Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj and team are leaving no stone unturned to keep the buzz high around Vijay’s Leo. The actioner will have its worldwide release on October 19. To keep the fans excited, they have released posters of the film in four languages: Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, and Hindi. Also, the makers also planned a grand audio launch of the movie in Chennai, ahead of its theatrical release. But sadly for Vijay’s fans, the event has been cancelled.

Seven Screen Studio, the production house behind Leo, took to social media on Tuesday to inform people about the cancellation of the audio launch event. It clarified that the decision has not been taken due to political pressure, but because of the high demand for tickets.

Why was Leo’s audio launch event cancelled?

The studio wrote on X, “Considering overflowing passes requests & safety constraints, we have decided not to conduct the Leo Audio Launch. In respect of the fans’ wishes, we will keep you engaged with frequent updates.”

The post further read, “P.S. As many would imagine, this is not due to political pressure or any other reasons.” The audio launch event was scheduled to take place on September 30 at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai. The preparations for the event had begun, and the stage was being mounted too.

There have been rumours about Vijay looking to launch his political party following the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and may contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls.

Jagadish Palanisamy, one of the producers of Leo, shared that it was a ‘hard’ decision for the makers to cancel the event. He also said that they tried to figure out all possible alternatives but couldn’t come up with any.

He wrote on X, “It is a very hard decision and We feel the same level of disappointment as each one of the fan will go through. Despite working out various options and tremendous effort, we had to take this tough call, considering the extreme overflow in tickets demand and prioritising the safety of the guests.”

Leo, which is rumoured to be a remake of David Cronernberg’s A History of Violence (2005), also stars Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mansoor Ali Khan and Mysskin among others. The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander.
