Leo’s release has not been a celebration as it should have been for millions of Vijay fans. The much-anticipated film, which is slated to be released on October 19, still doesn’t have a confirmed time for the first show. Seven Screen Studio appealed to the Madras High Court to let the Tamil Nadu government allow early morning shows. The court, while refusing to allow 4 a.m. show, asked the government to reconsider its decision to not allow 7 a.m. shows. While the state is yet to come out with its decision, Leo’s release in Telugu is facing another problem as a City Civil Court has passed an order to withhold the release of the film until October 20.
A civil court in Hyderabad has ordered theatres to hold the release of Leo film till October 20 with regards to a case filed by Naga Vamsi of Sithara Entertainment. He has claimed that he has the rights to the title ‘Leo’ and has demanded the filmmakers change the name in his plea.
This has come as another blow to Vijay as the film is facing one problem after another. However, the expectations for the film are skyrocketing despite the hurdles. Except for Tamil Nadu, the film is having early morning shows in Kerala and Karnataka. Pudhucherry government has also given permission for 7 a.m. shows.
Sithara Entertainment is expected to make a statement regarding the same soon.
Meanwhile, Leo’s ticket sales have been incredible. Trade analysts predict the film will earn more than Rs 70 crore on the first day, and the film has the potential to do better than Rajinikanth’s Jailer.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Jailer also stars Sanjay Dutt, Trisha, Gautam Menon, and Arjun in important roles. The film will be released in multiple languages–Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. Anirudh Ravichander, who struck gold with Jailer, has also composed the songs for Leo.
