The action entertainer The Greatest of All Time, also marketed as GOAT, has been touted as ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay’s penultimate film before he embarks on a career in politics. The Tamil star is coming off his biggest-ever hit, Leo, directed by Lokesh Kannagaraj, and the expectations from GOAT are incredibly high. Advance ticket sales data shared by industry tracker Sacnilk suggests that Vijay can expect another huge opening at the box office. Leo made Rs 76 crore in total across India on day one, and that should be the benchmark to beat for GOAT.

According to Sacnilk, the film has already sold tickets worth Rs 11 crore for day one. With blocked seats, this number stands at over Rs 14.6 crore. Rs 11.2 crore of this total has come from Tamil-speaking regions, where tickets are being sold for an average price of Rs 208. In the Telugu regions, tickets worth Rs 7 lakh have been sold so far. IMAX screenings of the film have contributed to Rs 2 lakh in advance sales, with the average ticket price standing at over Rs 800. GOAT has sold over 5.4 lakh tickets so far. In the US, GOAT has sold tickets worth more than Rs 5.5 crore, and has already beaten the advance records of Vijay’s Beast.

GOAT has sold tickets worth Rs 6 lakh in the Tamil Nadu, Rs 1.3 crore in Kerala, and worth Rs 3.4 crore in Karnataka. Vijay remains a non-draw in north India, with Maharashtra contributing only Rs 4 lakh so far, while the Delhi-NCR region has contributed less than Rs 2 lakh to the film’s advance sales.

Directed by Venkat Prabhu, The Greatest of All Time also stars Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Ajmal Ameer, Mohan, Jayaram, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Vaibhav, Yogi Babu, Premgi Amaren and Yugendran. There are also rumours that Trisha and Sivakarthikeyan might appear in cameos in the film, which has reportedly been produced on a budget of more Rs 300 crore.  GOAT features original music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, and cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni. Produced by Archana Kalpathi under the AGS Entertainment banner, the film will be released on September 5.
