The theatre owners in Tamil Nadu have decided against teaser or trailer celebrations inside the cinema halls. The decision comes after fans of Vijay vandalised a theatre in Chennai during the screening of the trailer of Leo. Also, the government has announced that there will be no early morning shows of the film. The first show will only start at 9 am on Thursday, when Leo releases in the theatres.

Film trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan shared pictures and videos of the vandalised Chennai theatre on social media. They showed the torn seat covers and broken seats. Along with the photos, he wrote, “Tamil Nadu theatres to STOP teaser/trailer celebrations. This decision has come after Joseph Vijay fans have completely thrashed Rohini Cinemas in Chennai during #Leo trailer launch celebration.”

The president of Theater Owners Association has said, “We have decided not to release any more trailers in theatres.”

In another post on X, Vijayabalan shared, “BREAKING: Tamil Nadu government REFUSES to accept Madras High Court’s reconsideration on #Leo 7 am shows. Hence it is CLEAR now that there is no 4 am or 7 am shows for #LokeshKanagaraj’s #LeoFilm. As stated in earlier GO, Joseph Vijay’s #LEOFDFS will start only at 9 am.”

Lokesh Kangaraj’s directorial Leo is the most-anticipated film of the year. But it has been mired in controversies. Earlier, the makers also planned a grand audio launch of the movie in Chennai, ahead of its theatrical release. But it got cancelled due to the high demand for tickets.

Seven Screen Studio, the production house behind Leo, wrote on X, “Considering overflowing passes requests & safety constraints, we have decided not to conduct the Leo Audio Launch. In respect of the fans’ wishes, we will keep you engaged with frequent updates.”

Meanwhile, the advance ticket sales of the film are skyrocketing. Leo has already generated Rs 34 crore in day one revenue. The maximum number of tickets have been sold in Tamil Nadu. Industry tracker Sacnilk has reported that Rajinikanth’s Jailer did advance business of around Rs 18 crore.
