The much-anticipated collaboration between Vetrimaaran and Silambarasan has finally received its official title. Titled Arasan, the film’s first look poster was unveiled by producer Kalaipuli S Thanu on social media, accompanied by the caption, “The King born to rule.” Until now, the project had been referred to by its working title, STR49.
There has been speculation about whether Arasan is set in the same universe as Vada Chennai, the Dhanush-starrer also directed by Vetrimaaran. Addressing the rumours, the director recently said, “This film takes place in the same universe, but in a different era from the events of Vada Chennai. That’s all I can say for now.” With that confirmation, Arasan officially becomes part of the Vada Chennai Cinematic Universe, with the sequel to Vada Chennai expected to be the next entry in the series.
