Actor Shruthi Haasan and director Soundarya Rajinikanth were called up on stage in the recently held award ceremony. Ever since Superstar Rajinikanth confirmed the news of him sharing screen space with his longtime colleague and friendly rival Kamal Haasan in a film, social media has been buzzing with excitement regarding the yet-to-be-announced film. The star kids had many things to say about their superstar dads and their upcoming collaboration. Shruthi Haasan opened up about her working relationship with Rajinikanth on the sets of Coolie. “I was just telling Soundarya that I enjoyed working with Rajini sir in Coolie so much. Not because our fathers know each other, but it was really a wonderful experience.”

Shruthi also cited ‘Padayappa’ as her favorite Rajinikanth film, to which Soundarya cited ‘Thevar Magan’ as her favourite film starring Kamal Haasan. Talking about the upcoming film, they will be collaborating on Soundarya Rajnikanth added, “The update right about their collaboration is that our dads should be the right people to talk about now. But do know that my father will be doing a film with Kamal sir under his banner next. But the other details about the film are all still work in progress. So when it is the right time, ‘Thalaivar’ will come out and announce it himself.”

Shruthi Haasan also spoke about their bond and why the star families do not interact as much as people think. “Many people asked me about the experience working with ‘Rajini uncle’ and I corrected them, saying that even for me, it’s Rajini sir only. Our families have not been that close over the years. But whenever we meet, there is this positivity and mutual respect between the families. That’s our relationship.” The yet untitled Rajinikanth- Kamal film was initially rumored to be directed by Dude star Pradeep Ranganathan, but he turned down these rumors in a recent interview. ‘Coolie’ director Lokesh Kanagaraj is the recent frontrunner in the unconfirmed names floating around to helm this huge multi-starrer from Tamil cinema. Rajinikanth confirmed in a press interaction that the new film will be bankrolled by Raaj Kamal Films International, and they are waiting for the right characters and story to lock the script and they will start work on this film after he completes shooting for Jailer 2.
