Kamal Haasan is Indian's one of the most popular and finest actors. He started his acting career as a child actor when he just three-and-a-half-year-old with 1959 film Kalathur Kannamma. As an adult, he made his film debut in a minor role with 1973 film Arangetram, In his decorated career spanning more than 50 years, the actor has contributed to the Indian film industry in various capacities as a writer, director, playback singer, producer, lyricist and choreographer. He has more than 200 film titles to his credit and has worked in various languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi and one Bengali film. He has won various accolades both at home and overseas. He has been honoured with Padma Shri in 1990, the Padma Bhushan in 2014. Besides winning three National Awards, he has also won the coveted French honour of Chevalier Award. He is the second Tamil actor to have won this French award after thespian Sivaji Ganesan. His 1987 film Nayakan has been named among the Time magazine's 100 all-times best movies. He was twice married and divorced and has two daughters from his second marriage named Shruti Haasan and Akshara Haasan. He recently broke up with his long time live-in partner, Gautami.
