Director Shankar‘s name immediately invokes a sense of grandness as the filmmaker has a reputation for creating mega-set designs and larger-than-life scenarios. Rumour has it that he painted an entire village for the song “Rendakka” from Anniyan and the glass palace of “Sahana” from Sivaji is the stuff of a fantasy dream. Shankar has brought the same magnificence to his daughter Aishwarya Shankar’s wedding, which happened in Chennai on April 15.

Pictures from the wedding have gone viral on social media. On top of the glossy costumes and the decorations, the superstar guests added to the grandeur of the event. Besides Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Rajinikanth, who has worked with Shankar in three films Sivaji, Enthiran, and 2.0, attended the event. Kamal Haasan, who is currently working with the director in Indian 2, was also present.

Mani Ratnam, Suhasini, Vikram, Suriya, Karthi, and Arjun too graced the wedding. Nayanthara and her husband Vignesh Shivan attended the event and shared their picture with the newlyweds on social media.

Mani Ratnam was spotted having a chat with actor Vikram at the event.

The pictures also featured Shankar’s younger daughter Aditi Shankar, who made her silver screen debut with Karthi’s Viruman. She later acted in Sivakarthikeyan’s Maaveeran.

On the work front, Shankar is currently working on two films simultaneously. He is directing Ram Charan’s Telugu film Game Changer and Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2. Both projects have been in the making for a long time. While Indian 2 is confirmed to be released in June, Game Changer is expected to be released by September.
