Superstar Rajinikanth, now 73, is showing no signs of slowing down and is instead gearing up for even larger projects, much to the delight of his fans. Despite already being involved in two highly anticipated big-budget films, he has agreed to work on another project, which, if a movie, will mark his 172nd one since the start of his career in 1975.
Interestingly, this new project is backed not by a Tamil industry-based company but by a Bollywood production powerhouse, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, with its owner Sajid Nadiadwala making the announcement on social media recently.
Sharing a picture of himself alongside Thalaivar, Nadiadwala wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “It’s a true honour to collaborate with the legendary Rajinikanth sir! Anticipation mounts as we prepare to embark on this unforgettable journey together.” However, specific details about the project, such as the director, title and cast and crew, are yet to be disclosed.
Nadiadwala’s wife Warda Khan S Nadiadwala was also present during the meeting, and the two posed for pictures with both Thalaivar and his wife Latha. Meanwhile, as Sunday marked Rajinikanth and Latha’s 43rd wedding anniversary, Warda shared a heartfelt message on social media, expressing admiration for their enduring love. Along with a picture of all four of them together, she noted, “Your everlasting love is an inspiration to all of us! Wishing you a very very happy anniversary Thalaivar and Amma! 🥰 loads of love and duas on your special day Here’s to a lifetime of love and happiness ❤️ and of course for 7 janam as well 🧿.”
Sajid Nadiadwala, who has been a producer since 1992, has bankrolled numerous mammoth projects under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, including Jeet, Judwaa, Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Heyy Babyy, Housefull, Anjaana Anjaani, 83, Heropanti and Satyaprem Ki Katha, among others. His most recent production venture was Nitesh Tiwari’s Bawaal, starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles.
While Rajinikanth is currently working on Jai Bhim director TJ Gnanavel’s Vettaiyan, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, and Manju Warrier, his project with Leo and Vikram director Lokesh Kanagaraj, tentatively titled Thalaivar 171, is now in the pre-production stage.
