R. Madhavan will be seen next playing Gopalaswamy Doraiswamy Naidu, also known as G D Naidu, in the upcoming biopic GDN. The actor is unrecognizable in the first look teaser, launched Monday, where he is seen seen using heavy prosthetic makeup with his hairline shaven off to resemble the look of an older GD Naidu. The teaser offers a glimpse into Madhavan’s physical transformation for the role of one of India’s greatest creative minds. Often cited as the ‘Edison of India’, Naidu is known for his legacy of transforming imported technologies into practical innovations that suit the Indian market and ecosystem.
This is Madhavan’s second consecutive dramatic look after Dhurandhar. The actor is playing an actor modelled on Indian NSA chief Ajit Doval in the Ranveer Singh-starrer.
GDN teaser shows an ageing Naidu working in a workshop alone to reveal his face only towards the end. The biopic will follow G D Naidu in becoming the visionary he is touted to be and will trace his immense contributions to India’s technological innovation. Sharing the teaser, Madhavan wrote on his Instagram post, “The spirit of G.D. Naidu is now officially unveiled. A story of unmatched vision, towering ambition, and unwavering resolve. We proudly present the first look teaser of ‘G.D.N.’.” In a recent post Madhavan had posted a photo from the sets of the film, marking, ” The actor captioned his post with gratitude: “Another day… another look. Life on set goes on. So very blessed and grateful to have the most extraordinary cast, crew, and wonderful producers. #GDN.”

The film directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar, features an ensemble supporting cast consisting of Jayaram, Sathyaraj, Priyamani, and Yogi Babu in other major roles. The film will trace the incredible life journey of G D Naidu and bring his biggest contribution to India’s technological development, the creation of indigenous motor and petrol engines. GDN is being bankrolled by Varghese Moolam Pictures and is eyeing a release for the summer of 2026.
