The police recently made a grim discovery when they found the body of a young migrant worker. During their investigation, it became apparent that the perpetrator had tied her hands to her head and then legs from behind before slitting her throat. Shockingly, just three days later, another woman’s body was found in the same bound position, also a victim of a fatal slashing. It is now evident that the culprit behind both crimes is one and the same.
Thus begins the trailer of filmmaker Vignesh Raja’s debut project Por Thozhil, starring Sarath Kumar, Ashok Selvan and Nikhila Vimal in the lead roles.
As the film’s tone becomes apparent, the viewers are swiftly introduced to Crime Branch SP Lokanathan (Sarath Kumar) and his recently appointed mentee (Ashok Selvan) who encounter a rocky beginning in their professional relationship. Subsequently, they are tasked with investigating the murders of these women.
“Four murders… not even a single difference in the modus operandi… just like photostat copies… how sir,” the mentee asks Lokanathan, to which he replies: “Why would anyone tie your hands to your head from behind? For eye contact! This person finds pleasure from watching lives leave their bodies.”
“If you want to understand an artist, you should study the artist’s painting first. Just like that, it is important to study the murders first to understand the killer,” Lokanathan adds.
In the remainder of the promo, audiences are treated to a glimpse of an action-packed and gripping thriller. It is said that Por Thozhil has another important actor in the role of the antagonist. However, the makers have kept the name under wraps as they don’t want people to have a preconceived notion about the killer.
Produced jointly by Applause Entertainment, E4 Experiments and Eprius Studio, Por Thozhil will hit theatres on June 9.
