Rajinikanth’s Jailer, which released in August, made Rs 604 crore worldwide. Leo still has to make Rs 46.2 crore to surpass Jailer’s record. It is yet to be seen if Leo can manage to become the second highest grosser of Tamil cinema.
Vijay’s film has been surrounded by controversy even before it released. The actor did not promote his film after the audio launch of the film was cancelled. However, Vijay, recently conducted a success meet of the film and addressed some of its controversies. He urged the audience to look at the film objectively, rather than personally. He said, “I plead with all of you to look at a film as a film. If you look, all around the world, cinema is seen as something artificial and a form of entertainment. In that cinema, there will be a good guy and a bad guy. To differentiate between these two, there are a few things that are done… see I don’t have to explain this all to you. I know that you all know it already.”
