Prepare for the arrival of Mari Selvaraj’s much-anticipated political thriller Maamannan, as it is ready to make its way to the big screen on June 29.

With a gripping trailer as a glimpse, Maamannan is poised to deliver a truly compelling and emotionally charged cinematic experience, showcasing the director’s remarkable talent following the acclaimed Pariyerum Perumal (2018) and Karnan (2021).

Starring Vadivelu, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Fahadh Faasil and Keerthy Suresh in the lead roles, the film will feature a never-seen-before avatar of “Vaigai Puyal” Vadivelu.

Keerthy Suresh herself recently confirmed this and emphasised that Maamannan will mark the long-awaited comeback of Vadivelu.

“I saw a flashback scene of Vadivelu’s character in Mamannan and it was amazing. In this film, he takes on the central role, depicting a character deeply entrenched in a serious atmosphere. This is a role that he has never done before. Maamannan will mark Vadivelu’s comeback,” Keerthy said during an interview with Cue Studio.

“Working with Vadivelu sir was so much fun. He would make us laugh all the time. I never thought that I would receive the opportunity to work with him. Mamannan was a project that I enjoyed a lot,” she added.

Produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant movies, Maamannan is one of the most anticipated films of the year. The flick also marks the return of Selvaraj whose last film Karnan had sent shock waves across the Tamil industry.

While AR Rahman, who is joining hands with Selvaraj for the first time, has composed the music for Maamannan, Theni Eswar cinematographed the film which was edited by Selva RK.

During the audio launch of Maamannan, Vadivelu said, “This is not a film. This is the truth. I have worked with many directors in my career. Kamal Haasan was the one who made me do what I was doing on the streets in film. My training is from there. I came up after a lot of struggles, which Mari Selvaraj has also gone through.”
