Filmmaker-actor T Rajendar hospitalised, will go abroad for treatment

T Rajendar, popularly known as TR, has been admitted to a private hospital in Chennai.

Veteran actor-filmmaker T Rajendar, popularly known as TR, has been admitted to a private hospital following chest pain. His son Silambarasan on Tuesday issued a statement on his father’s health condition.

“My father was admitted to the hospital after he complained of chest pain. A blood clot was found in his stomach. For further treatment, we are taking him abroad. He’s fully awake and well,” Simbu said in the statement.

It is said that T Rajendar will fly out to America on a private jet for further treatment. Rajendar’s wife Usha Rajendar confirmed the plans to seek additional treatment in a foreign country.


“Yes, he (Rajendar) has some health issues. And he’s going abroad for treatment. Inform the fans that he’s doing well. He’s conscious, and eating well. He’s also attending phone calls. But, Simbu wants better treatment for his father. And so he’s taking him abroad. We got the visas and within two days, we will leave. We want to him to get his health checked fully. But, he’s alright now,” Usha told NewsTamil24X7.

Usha Rajendar also noted that the family was going out of the country for some privacy. “Since he’s in movies, every day around 15 people come to meet him. We can’t avoid here,” Usha added.

T Rajendar, 67, made his entry in films in the 1980s and delivered several hit films during his hey days. He is an accomplished screenwriter, director, musician and actor. TR is also known for his uncanny ability to speak in rhymes at a moment’s notice.
