Rishab Shetty’s pan-India epic action fantasy Kantara: Chapter 1 is all set to earn in its opening week what the first part did in its lifetime at the domestic box office. It’s also earning in multiples of its competition in the Hindi market — Shashank Khaitan’s romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor.
On Tuesday (day 6), Kantara: Chapter 1 earned Rs 33.5 crore, a minor improvement on its Monday (day 5) collection of Rs 31.5 crore. That was a significant 50%+ fall from its massive Sunday (day 4) earnings of Rs 63 crore, a slight rise from its Saturday (day 3) collection of Rs 55 crore, a further spike from its Friday (day 2) earnings of Rs 45.40 crore. The film opened last Thursday at Rs 61.85 crore on the occasion of Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti.
As per Sacnilk, the total box office collection of Kantara: Chapter 1 across all languages in India now stands at Rs 290.25 crore. The dubbed Hindi version reserves the lion’s share of this figure at Rs 93.25 crore, even more than the original Kannada language version, which scored Rs 89.35 crore. It’s followed by the dubbed Telugu (Rs 57.40 crore), Tamil (Rs 27.25 crore), and Malayalam (Rs 23 crore) versions, respectively.
Given its current trajectory, Kantara: Chapter 1 will easily cross the coveted Rs 300 crore mark at the domestic box office today. It may also surpass the lifetime domestic box office collection of its first part, Kantara (2022), which amassed Rs 309.64 crore across all languages in its lifetime of 10 weeks. Worldwide, Kantara: Chapter 1 has earned Rs 427.50 crore within its first six days. It’s likely to breach the coveted Rs 500 crore mark in its opening week.
Kantara: Chapter 1 has dismantled its competition at the domestic box office. On Tuesday, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, which also released on the same day as Shetty’s tentpole, managed to earn only Rs 3 crore, whereas the former amassed more than 11 times of this across languages. Even its dubbed Hindi version earned almost four times on Tuesday.
Kantara: Chapter 1 is currently not only the highest grossing Kannada film of this year, but also the fourth-highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 and the third-highest-grossing Kannada film of all time. Written and directed by Shetty, it’s produced by Hombale Films. It also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, and Bollywood actor Gulshan Devaiah among others.
