The festivities for every ‘Swiftie’ around the world have begun, as singer Taylor Swift has released her latest album titled The Life of a Showgirl. A dive into her life with fiancé Travis Kelce and her career as the leading pop star of this generation, the album has been more than well received by the fans. This is notably the singer’s first album since she bought the rights to all her music earlier this year.
The album features 12 tracks, but only one of them is a collaboration with another artist. Sabrina Carpenter appears on the last song, which also happens to be the title track of the project. The album has been produced by Swedish musicians Max Martin and Shellback. To the uninitiated, Taylor worked with them on her album ‘Red’, and they are responsible for tracks like ’22’, ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ and the iconic ‘We Are Never Getting Back Together’. The latter became Taylor’s first track to hit number 1 on the Billboard Top 100. Reports suggested that Spotify crashed for some time after the album released. However, Spotify is yet to comment on this.
Fans of the 35-year-old have already started flooding the comments section of her tracks on YouTube. Rapper Nicki Minaj also jumped on the train and posted several tweets on X (formerly Twitter) about how much she loved the album. One of her posts read, “Taylor said, ‘I heard you called me boring Barbie when the coke’s got your brain.'” Why are all the SAGs giving out lashings tonight? Oh wow. ‘Cancelled’ is diabolical. Let’s go, TAYLOR!” Fans reacted to this post with delight, and one of them wrote, “This is so beautiful. Nicki supporting Taylor Swift is the best thing you will see on the Internet today. That’s how it’s supposed to be. No place for hate on this side.”
In the comments section of her song ‘Opalite’, one fan wrote, “This album feels like Taylor opening her diary on stage. Every song is a story, every lyric a confession. “Life of a Showgirl is the song that ties it all together; it’s her most human, most vulnerable moment,” while another commented, “So far this album has been so light and danceable in the beats; it’s like being intoxicated by a beat of happiness.” You can never go wrong with Taylor Swift. Just the first song sent me to Twitter to tell you, ‘You are awesome.'”
The album currently sits at a Metascore of 78, while Rolling Stone has given the album 5 stars.
