Fans are waiting with bated breath for their favourite and one of the world’s biggest bands, BTS, to reunite after years and unveil their new album. However, a recent fun interaction between the band’s leader RM and Jimin made ARMY nervous about the long-awaited reunion. Here’s what happened.
During a surprise post-practice livestream on Weverse on November 21, RM and Jimin treated fans to an impromptu chat. But the duo soon realised their broadcast had only a single viewer. Jimin jokingly pointed out, “Only 1 person joined. The network doesn’t really work here, but there’s really just 1 viewer.”
Seeing the unusually low views, RM laughed and joked about the band breaking up. He said, “Let’s call it quits on our tea. Time to disband?” Jimin looked confused and said, “What do you mean, time to disband?” before breaking into laughter. RM then explained himself and said, “Because there’s no one to watch us now.”
Though RM said this as a joke, his quote instantly spread across social media, making fans nervous. However, fans quickly realised that RM was joking and that it wasn’t a reflection of the band’s future.
BTS is a South Korean boy band formed in 2010. The group consists of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook, who co-write or co-produce much of their music. In 2020, BTS became the fastest group since The Beatles to chart four US number-one albums in less than two years. The band has since become one of the biggest musical acts in the world. However, since South Korea requires all its able-bodied residents to complete compulsory military training, BTS temporarily disbanded in 2022 after its members enlisted, and since then, the members have focused on their individual careers and solo albums.
This year, the members completed their military service and have since regrouped, working on their upcoming group album. They are expected to release a new album in March 2026 and are planning their first full-group world tour since 2022.
