It’s throwback time in Bollywood yet again, and this time the makers of the film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari have brought back Sonu Nigam’s old track ‘Bijuria’ from his 1999 album ‘Mausam’. Sony Music India, which is the music partner for the film, released the music video of the same, featuring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor dancing on the new version of the track reimagined by composer Tanishk Bagchi.
The original composition of the song was done by Ravi Pawar, and the lyrics were written by Sonu and Ajay Jhingran. A female part has been added to the song, and it has been performed by Asees Kaur of ‘Raataan Lambiya’ fame. The additional lyrics have been written by Tanishk himself, and while the tempo of the song is quite similar to the original, there are other embellishments that make the track feel faster and more contemporary to the current time. Fans only had one feedback: they wanted a cameo from Sonu Nigam in the song, who was seen dancing with Varun in an Instagram reel.
Other actors featured in the music video are Manish Paul, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, and Akshay Oberoi. The teaser for the film came out recently, in which Varun and Janhvi (Sunny and Tulsi) seemed to be hatching a plan, but nothing solid was revealed. The official description of the plot on IMDb reads, “Two former lovers in Delhi try to rekindle old flames, leading to amusing mix-ups and deceptions. As chaos unfolds, a new unexpected romance blooms. Who will find their happy ending amid the confusion?” The two former lovers are presumably Sunny and Tulsi, and the flames they are trying to rekindle might be referring to Sanya and Rohit.
While Varun has been away from the screen since his film Baby John’s disappointing run at the box office, Janhvi is currently sitting on the sidelines watching her film Param Sundari chip away at the theatres. The film, which also stars Sidharth Malhotra, was already at a disadvantage when people started comparing it to Chennai Express and pointed out that Janhvi’s half-Malayali, half-Tamilian character was more offensive than endearing. While the numbers aren’t exactly skyrocketing, the film has crossed the Rs 30 crore mark as of now.
Coming to Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, the film has been directed by Shashank Khaitan, who has worked with Varun before in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017).
